2023 election: Do not hand Nigeria over to sick people – LP Chairman

3 Min Read

Julius Abure, National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), believes Nigeria is sick and should not be handed over to “sick” people.

He made the remarks on Saturday in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State, during the launch of campaigns for the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed.

Obi and Baba-Ahmed, he claims, never get sick and rarely visit hospitals.

At the rally, Abure urged Labour Party supporters, dubbed “Obidients,” to obtain Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) as a “weapon” for ejecting the dominant All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in next year’s general elections.

“All the challenges we have been having in the country is zeroed down to leadership problem,” he said.

“Our presidential candidate no dey go hospital; he is strong. Our presidential candidate no dey sick, the vice-presidential candidate no dey sick.

“Today, the country is sick. It is sick from insecurity, it is sick from unemployment, the economy is not working. If you put everything together, the country is sick and we cannot hand it over to sick people; we need vibrant, young, energetic people who can be awake day and night to solve the problems of the country and we have that person.

“We also need somebody who has character, integrity, somebody that will not take our money abroad.”

Labour Party’s Peter Obi vows to solve flood, food crisis if elected

Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi promised to solve Nigeria’s flood problem and ensure the country achieves food sufficiency, if he is elected.

He promised to solve Nigeria’s power crisis, among other things, and questioned why the Super Eagles couldn’t qualify for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, which begins next month.

“I assure you, if we come into power, we will solve this flooding problem,” Obi said after observing a one-minute silence in honor of all flood victims across the country.

“We are not going to do it overnight but we will start solving it. It will not take 30 years. The Federal Government said it will take 30 years, it will not take 30 years for us to solve it.

“Let me assure you, the government Obi and Datti Baba-Ahmed will change Nigeria for good,” he said.
