The Arewa Alliance, a socio-political group, has called on Mr Godwin Emefiele, Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), to declare his interest to run for president of Nigeria in 2023.
The convener of the group, Mr Dauda Khushi, who made the appeal at a news conference on Tuesday in Yola, said that Nigeria requires a leader like Emefiele who understands the country and has knowledge of ethnicity, among others, for a united entity.
According to him, the group wants Emefiele to declare his intention to run for presidency to enable the group members contribute in securing him his nomination form.
Kushu noted that it was during Emefiele’s tenure that Nigeria enhanced its non-oil exports, boosted domestic output and increased agricultural productivity, among many other achievements.

He said that his modest achievements enabled young Nigerians to play active role in the agro-business value chain as a result of CBN’s multi-sectorial interventions.
“CBN has produced over 12 million employment in Agriculture through the Anchor Borrowers programme (ABP) and the figure is growing exponentially.
“Emefiele’s successes in implementing the National Youth Investment Fund (NYIF), which saw the CBN distribute N3 billion to over 7,057 beneficiaries, including 4,411 individuals, 2,646 small and medium sized enterprises,” he said.
Kushu further said that Emefiele exhibited all of the qualities that makes a strong leader and he is a reliable and devoted supporter of President Muhammadu Buhari.
