2023: Buhari, Tinubu, other party leaders will resolve zoning questions – Kashim Shettima

Kashim Shettima

Former Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima says President Muhammadu Buhari, APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and other party leaders would resolve the zoning of the 2023 presidential ticket of the party.

He said it was too early for APC leaders to start heating up the polity with discussions of which region would produce the 2023 presidential candidate of the party.

Shettima, who is the Senator for Borno Central, shared a view similar to that of former President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who said it was too early for anyone to be discussing 2023 presidential polls in 2020.

The ex-Borno governor spoke Saturday at a two-day high-level mid-term retreat held in Ado-Ekiti.

He said that those predicting APC’s disintegration over the 2023 presidential ticket would be disappointed.

“Don’t forget that our party still controls the Presidency. We have a leader and other competent leaders that can manage every crisis situation.

“At the appropriate time, our leaders will sit and take the most apt decision that will resolve the issue.

“APC is a party that is united and nothing can break us. I am confident that we will win the 2023 presidential election.

“APC still remains the party to beat because of the unity of purpose and togetherness as well as desire to deliver for Nigerians.

“So, I am confident and no cause for alarm. What you called controversy will be resolved in the fullness of time,” Shettima said.
