2019: Why we must flush out Buhari – Sule Lamido

Former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido has said that President Muhammadu Buhari needed to be sent packing in 2019 to pave the way for a more secure and prosperous Nigeria.

Lamido, who is contesting for the presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made this known at the Taraba State Government House in Jalingo where he led his presidential campaign team to interact with stakeholders in the state on Tuesday.

The presidential aspirant who met with Governor Darius Ishaku said that security in the country was at its lowest ebb and much needed to be done to salvage the country.

He recalled the recent assertion of former Defence Minister, Lt.-Gen. TY Danjuma that security forces were colluding with Fulani herdsmen to perpetrate killings across the state and other states.

The ex-governor also accused President Buhari of not being bothered by killings across the nation.

Lamido said, “We must flush out what is called Buhari for a better, secure and prosperous Nigeria in 2019.

“I want to condole with you over the killings in Taraba. It is unfortunate that Buhari has turned this country into killing fields and today we have to contend with killings in Plateau, Benue,  Zamfara,  Sokoto,  Kaduna states and other parts of the country, yet the President is not bothered that people are being killed on a daily basis.

“But when Gen. TY Danjuma called on Nigerians to defend themselves, they attacked him. But this was what the Emir of Birnin Gwari and other emirs in the north said before and nobody picked an offence.

“It is unfortunate that we have found ourselves where we are today. The police have become a political tool to punish and victimise political opponents.”

He further accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of blackmailing leading opposition figures and urged Nigerians not to fall for their antics.

Lamido added that his desire to be president was to redefine how leadership should be in Nigeria and to unite the nation especially for the masses.

Responding, Governor Ishaku described Lamido as a patriotic Nigerian and a true representative of the masses.

But he said, “At the appropriate time, God will help us in the PDP to pick an acceptable candidate for the 2019 Presidential election. I want to assure Nigerians that PDP will bounce back in 2019.”
