2019: Nigerians Want PDP In Power – Jonathan

2 Min Read

Ex-president Goodluck Jonathan has stated that Nigerians want the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to come into power in 2019.

The former president made this know on Monday evening during a meeting organised with other party chieftains at the Wadata Plaza national secretariat.

Goodluck Jonathan who led other chieftains in the meeting stressed the need to restructure and rebuild the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ahead of the 2019 polls. He further assured members of the party who had cross-carpeted in the past due to the crisis which rocked the party to return so they can all build a stringer political platform.

Goodluck Jonathan who arrived amidst loud cheers and ovation said at the meeting that the party has since overcome its worst moments.

He said: “The first thing we need to do is to rebuild the party because when the party is strong, everything will be added to that.

“Whether you have individual or group interest, as a politician, you must serve. These are very basic things. But first and foremost, we must strengthen the party.

“Let us cooperate with the Caretaker Committee and make sure that PDP is very cohesive. And when that happens, people who stepped aside may step back.”

Recall that the apex court recently affirmed Ahmed Markarfi as the authentic chairman of the party following the power tussle between Ahmed Makarfi and Ali Modu-Sheriff.
