Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has accused the Federal Government of trying to frame him ahead of the 2019 general election.
He disclosed at a church service on Sunday that the Federal Government was trying hard to frame him using a Lebanese who would be made to claim that he (Wike) gave him money to procure arms for the 2019 elections.
Recall that former President Olusegun Obasanjo had late last week also accused the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration of trying to frame him with fake witnesses to justify his planned arrest in connection with alleged $16billion expenditure on power during his administration.
Distancing himself from such plan, Wike said he had dutifully served his people and does not need to procure arms to win an election in the state.
He said, “The Federal Government has arranged with a Lebanese to say that I told him to buy arms for the purpose of the forthcoming elections.
“I am not close to any Lebanese, let alone give money to anyone to buy arms for elections. We have dutifully served our people and we don’t need to purchase arms for elections.
“If elections are held 20,000 times, we will win because our projects have positively impacted the lives of our people.”
