The 24 governors elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari for second term in office.
The endorsement came when the governors visited the president at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Tuesday night.
The Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, disclosed this while addressing State House correspondents after the meeting.
Okorocha, who is the Imo State Governor, said,“We came to welcome the President back and to commend him for his boldness and courage to declare his intention to run for second term as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria , which we the 24 governors of the APC duly support.
“And we have come to encourage him that he must go ahead with his vision.”
He added that the party’s upcoming National Convention and Congresses were also on the agenda of the meeting.
Okorocha disclosed that the stakeholders agreed to ensure the exercise is conducted peacefully.
Responding to rumoured endorsement of former Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole for the post of APC National Chairman, Okorocha said Nigerians would be properly briefed at a later date.
