The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NHCN) has placed Kebbi in Category ‘A’ to enable the state to enjoy some privileges to be provided by the commission.
The information is in a statement in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday, signed by Alhaji Abubakar Dakingari, the Chief Press Secretary to Gov. Atiku Bagudu.
Dakingari stated that “placing Kebbi in Category A is in accordance with a letter sent to Gov Bagudu by the Secretary of the commission, Dr Mohammed Tambuwal.
He added that with the placement in Category ‘A’, Kebbi could now participate in organising the lesser Hajj (Umrah).“The NHCN explained that the decision to place the state in the category followed recent inspection visit and grading it embarked upon to all state pilgrims’ welfare boards, agencies and commissions,” the secretary noted.
He said that the commission had appealed to the governor to provide necessary resources to the state pilgrims welfare agency to enable it to
discharge its duties effectively. (NAN)
