No fewer than 1,000 intending pilgrims have made the complete payment of the new fare of N1.5 million approved for pilgrims from Jigawa state.
The Public Relation Officer of the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board (JSPWB), Alhaji Ibrahim Hashim, made this known on Wednesday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse.
Hashim said a total of 2,677 seats was allocated to Jigawa by the National Hajj Commission this year.
Hashim said that the board has already commenced the process of visa for the pilgrims who have completed the payment.
He urged the remaining pilgrims to complete their payment to enable the board process their visa on time.
The spokesperson also advised the pilgrims to work with only zonal pilgrims officers when paying the fare to avoid falling into the hands of fraudsters.
He urged intending pilgrims to continue to attend the weekly seminar in order to learn more about the performance of the pilgrimage.
“The intending pilgrims are expected to fully participate in the daily seminar for them to be trained on obligations, tenets and cardinal principles of the Hajj exercise.
“This is because proper education on the exercise will prepare them to conduct the Hajj in accordance with the teachings of Islam and be good ambassadors of the country.” (NAN)
