A 200-level female student of the Department of Accounting at the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), identified as Adaeze, has been found dead in her off-campus apartment in Aluu Community, Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state.

This incident occurred barely nine days after Demian Okoligwe, a student of Engineering at UNIPORT, reportedly killed his girlfriend, Justina Otuene, a Bio-Chemistry student at the university.

The Herald gathered that Adaeze was found dead when her neighbours forced open the door to her apartment after not seeing her for a while. Upon entering her apartment, they discovered Adaeze lifeless, with a bottle of Sniper (insecticide) beside her corpse.

The UNIPORT’s Dean of Students Affairs, Professor Chima Wokocha, confirmed the incident and disclosed that when the University management, together with the deceased’s parents and the police, visited the apartment, they found a bottle of Sniper beside the student.

Wokocha, who also mentioned that Adaeze’s body had been deposited in the mortuary, explained that the deceased did not die inside the University but in her off-campus apartment.

“She did not die in the University; she died in her apartment. The body has been deposited at the Lulu Briggs Hospital. The parents are making arrangements to remove her body.”

She further stated that they believed the deceased must have ingested something that led to her death because there was a bottle of a substance found by her side when they discovered her lifeless in her apartment.
