A Kuje Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, on Wednesday sentenced two men to four months imprisonment each, for stealing 10 bags of cement, valued at N25, 000.
The convicts, Princewell Shindar,25, a security man, and Innocent Johnson,20, a labourer, had admitted committing the offence.
They were docked on a two-count charge of joint act and theft.
The judge, Jim Taribo, who did not give them option of fine, said the punishment would serve as deterrent to other would-be offenders.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Doris Okoroba, told the court that one Suraho Adamu of AA1 Layout, Kuje, reported the case on Oct. 2. at the Kuje Police Station.
Okoroba said that the convicts conspired and stole 10 bags of cement from a building site, belonging to one Hussaini Sule, at Funtaj Road, area, Kuje.
The prosecutor said that the convicts were arrested when they attempted to sell the cement.
The offences contravened the provisions of Sections 79 and 287 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
