Controversial US Republican presidential hopeful, Donald Trump has been compared to Nazi leader, Adolf Hitler because of his anti-immigration stance.
The comparison is coming from two former Presidents of neighbouring Mexico, Felipe Calderon and Vicente Fox.
Trump has been much criticised for calling for a wall between the US and Mexico which he said he would force the Mexican government to pay for, saying that he would engage in mass deportations of Mexicans and tagging Mexicans as rapists and drug runners.
Felipe Calderon, who was Mexican President between 2006 and 2012, said Trump’s outbursts about Mexicans show “hate” and are not in the interest of the United States.
“This logic of praising the white supremacy is not just anti-immigration.
“He (Trump) is acting and speaking out against immigrants that have a different skin color than he does, it is frankly racist and [he is] exploiting feelings like Hitler did in his time,” Calderon said.
In the same vein, Vicente Fox, who was Mexican President between 2000 and 2006, said in a CNN interview that Trump was taking the US back to the old days of “war and conflict”, much like Hitler did in Germany.
He said: “He’s going to take the US back to the old days of conflict, war and everything. I mean, he reminds me of Hitler. That’s the way he started speaking.
“He has offended Mexico, Mexicans, and immigrants. He has offended the Pope. He has offended the Chinese. He’s offended everybody.”
