2 Min Read

Two persons said to be Wema Bank workers, were confirmed dead and two others critically injured in an auto crash near the City Gate along the airport road in Abuja on Tuesday.

It was learnt that the deceased were both women.

According to an eye witness, the tragic incident occurred when the driver of the Toyota Corolla car, with Lagos registration number LSR 570 AM, suddenly lost control of the vehicle and veered off the highway and crashed into a gutter.

He added that the car had two women, a driver and another man on board the official car when the fatal crash happened.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Rescue Team Leader, Mr. Agah Terhemba, who confirmed the accident, said that the four people involved in the accident were employees of Wema Bank.

“Commuters alerted us of the accident at City Gate and when we arrived at the spot, two unidentified women who were involved in the accident were already dead. The other passenger, Mr. Garuba Oga, and the driver, Mr. Ade Adeleke, sustained different degrees of fractures” he said.

Terhemba said that the corpses of the dead have been deposited at the mortuary while the other two are currently been treated at the Kings Care Hospital in Wuse Zone 4.

He said the accident may have been caused by over speeding and cautioned drivers to resist the temptation to drive too fast on the highways to prevent accidents.
