17 ships discharging petroleum products, other commodities in Lagos

No fewer than 17 ships are currently discharging petroleum products and other commodities at Apapa and Tin-Can Island ports in Lagos, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) said on Friday.

NPA explained that the 17 ships at the ports were discharging general cargoes, buck wheat, bulk fertiliser, bulk charcoal, Low Pour Fuel Oil (LPFO), frozen fish, bulk rice, trucks, containers, empty containers, aviation fuel and petrol.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 32 ships laden with petroleum products, food items and other goods are expected to arrive Lagos ports between June 24 and June 28.

NPA that the expected ships would ferry into the country, buck wheat, bulk sugar, base oil, steel products, soya beans, empty trucks, containers, bulk charcoal, frozen fish and petrol.

NAN reports that 26 ships were expected on June 20, while 26 ships were expected on June 22 and 30 ships expected on June 23.

The document noted that eight ships had arrived the ports, waiting to berth with petrol, bulk gypsum and bulk salt. (NAN)
