The Nigerian Stock Exchange started the week negative, as the sell off by investors continued amid bearish sentiments. The ASI dropped by 0.84% (232 points) compared with a 0.29% (50 points) loss recorded at the last trading session on Friday. The local bourse ended the day at 27,385.09 points, while Market Capitalization for the market at the close of trading today was N9.41 Trillion.

A total of 3,098 deals were struck today, an increase from 2,700 deals recorded on Friday, while the total volume of shares traded on the floor today were 319,783,645 and the total value of transactions recorded today was N3 Billion.

TOTAL the gainers chart today adding N4.07 to close at N145.07 followed by BETAGLAS and GLAXOSMITH which added N2.42 and N0.93 close at N50.93 and N38 respectively; NASCON and OANDO added N0.23 and N0.23 to close at N7.23 and N5.93 respectively.

The losers chart was led by FO who lost N13.77 to close with a share price of N261.73 followed by SEPLAT and MOBIL who lost N5.1 and N3.99 to close with share prices of N217 and N126.01 respectively; GUINNESS and UNILEVER lost N2 and N1.84 to close with share prices of N121 and N38.06 respectively.

The top five most actively traded shares by volume on the exchange today were FBNH with shares valued at N429 Million, DIAMOND with shares valued at N99 Million, ACCESS with shares valued at N176 Million, UBA with shares valued at N104 Million and ZENITHBANK with shares valued at N369 Million.

Market breadth closed negative as TOTAL led 21 Gainers against 37 Losers led by FO.

Year-To-Date currently stands at -20.98%.
