The Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bayelsa State, Chief Timipre Sylva has revealed the challenges and opposition he faced while searching for his running mate.
According to him it was a sensitive issue for him choosing between the two major tendencies in the state. Though he did not disclose it, it was learnt that Sylva was caught between lobbyists who wanted a youth and an elderly person as his choice for running mate.
The main contenders were Elder Wilberforce Igiri a retired school principal who was the choice of the elders and the youthful state party chairman, Tiwe Orunimighe who was the choice of the youths. Eventually, the elders prevailed as Igiri was chosen.
He however said that the matter had been resolved and members back together to work for the victory of the party in the election.
Sylva who spoke to journalists at the APC national Secretariat in Abuja also explained the delay in the take off of his campaigns, saying that process of inaugurating his campaign council was ongoing.
“On the issue of my running mate, that has been resolved you know such issue will always come up because there is no way you make a major decision like that in politics and somebody will not be offended, but that is a family issue and we have resolved it. Every well meaning APC aspirant and members are working with me. He however hinted that his party was considering next week Monday for the inauguration.
