The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission may have a new target in mind in the ongoing investigation into the $115 million election bribery Scandal.
Reports revealed that the former governor of Anambra state, Peter Obi may have been implicated in the case and will soon get an invitation from the anti-graft agency.
Peter Obi’s connection with the bribery Scandal stems from the revelations of the arrested Fidelity Bank MD, Nnamdi Okonkwo who received the said sum of money from the former Minister of Petroleum, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke through 4 oil companies.
The Fidelity Bank MD also revealed that his actions, the receipt and subsequent disbursements of the said amount was under the influence of the former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi who is said to be one of the owners of the financial institution.
Okonkwo, during his confession said Obi directed him to go to the former Minister of Petroleum’s house in Abuja for a “financial transaction that could benefit the bank.”
Recall that Peter Obi was a member of the former President Goodluck Jonathan’s Campaign team for the 2015 presidential election.
