Parents of the students of Government Girls Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State, have said that 105 girls are unaccounted for after Boko Haram attacked the school on Monday night.
The parents said they fear that the girls have been abducted by the dreaded Islamist terror group.
Bashir Manzo, chairman of a support group created by parents of the victims, told AFP that the girls were nowhere to be found despite the Army’s earlier claims that it had rescued all the girls.
Manzo, whose 16-year-old daughter Fatima is still missing, said, “Our first step was to compile a comprehensive list of all the missing girls. So far, we have compiled the names of 105.”
He said the victims’ parents would arrange a meeting with Yobe State Governor, Ibrahim Gaidam.
“We believe he (Gaidam) was misinformed (about the rescue of 48 of the girls). The school authorities from the beginning denied and kept denying that our daughters were taken.
“We will see the governor and seek his help , as well as anyone who matters that can in one way or another assist in ensuring the freedom of our girls,” Manzo added.
