Femi Adesina has betrayed Yoruba people – Afenifere

Afenifere leader, Pa Ayo Adebanjo

Chief Ayo Adebanjo, the Leader of pan-Yoruba group Afenifere, says Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina is a “sell-out” of the Yoruba people for justifying his principal’s controversial actions in the South-West geopolitical zone.

The 93-year-old Adebanjo said this while reacting to a comment by the Osun State-born Adesina.

In an article published by The Herald, Adesina described his principal as a man of iron and steel who would not hesitate to “whip into line” anybody who “misbehaves in any part of the country.”

Reacting, Adebanjo said that Adesina’s comments since his appointment as presidential aide were at variance with the views he held before his appointment.

He flayed the presidential aide for allegedly lacking principles.

The elder statesman warned Adesina against behaving as if Buhari would remain in power forever.

According to him, the Yoruba people will get rid of Buhari through prayers.

“Femi Adesina is a sell-out of the Yoruba people. When you compare what Adesina was writing as Editor of the Sun newspaper and what he is doing now, you feel ashamed of him. He has no principles at all”.

“He has forgotten that 10 kings, 10 seasons. Adesina has forgotten that Buhari will leave his position as President soon and Nigeria will remain. Then, we will look at Adesina and say ‘where are you now?’

“Adesina is thinking that Buhari will triumph over iniquity. No, it can never happen. We will get rid of Buhari through prayers to God because God does not support injustice. Then, we shall see what Adesina’s life will look like,” Daily Independent quoted Adebanjo as saying.
