Sokoto State Governor, Tambuwal

The Sokoto State Civil Service Commission is processing the promotion of no fewer than 100 Senior Staff of the State Ministry of Finance, its Chairman, Alhaji Bature Shinkafi, has said.

Shinkafi told newsmen in Sokoto on Wednesday that ” the commission is taking its time to ensure that a thorough job is done”.

”The state government has also set up junior staff committees in the various Ministries,Departments and Agencies that handle promotion of staff of between grade levels 01 and 06.

” They always sit and consider such promotions under the strict supervision of commissioners from the commission to avoid all possible pitfalls”.

The chairman further said that the minutes of the promotion exercises handled by the committees would later be sent to the commission for final vetting.

This, he said, was to ensure strict compliance with the laid down civil service rules and regulations.

Shinkafi, who is also the immediate past Head of the Civil Service (HOS) of the state, added:” We are judiciously and transparently handling all issues relating to recruitment, promotion and punishment”.

” The state government is routinely recruiting new workers in spite of the recession and this reduces unemployment.

”On discipline, the MDAs have their committees handling the issue, while their actions are always vetted by the commission.

”We will continue to be just and fair in the discharge of our mandates, not minding whose ox is gored,” he said.( NAN)
